Because
of the grammatical differences between the masculine and feminine
genders in French, the number of possessive adjectives
is greater than in English. However, one thing important to
note is that,
unlike
in
English,
it is the gender of the "object" that determines the
gender of the possessive in French - not the "subject";
e.g., English: She was eating her sandwich
vs French: Elle mangeait son sandwich.
